Congratualtions go out to Connecticut natives Kevin Duane (New Canaan, CT) and Wade Schools (Enfield, CT) on being selected for the 2013 EJHL All-Star game.

Duane, a forward a 6-9-15 line in 10 games played, began the season with the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL before joining the Junior Bruins in the late fall. He is scheduled to join the Boston University men’s hockey team next fall.

Springfield Pics’ defenseman Wade Schools is in his fourth season with the club. The big, 6’3″ backliner has 11 points (5g, 3a) in 32 games played this season.

The assumption here is that the EJHL must not have a clause where every team needs to be represented in the All-Star game (no players from the CT Oilers or Philadelphia Revolution were selected) – and that is fine. Handing out awards and All-star nods just for the sake of it cheapens the awards for everyone.
However, is it necessary to send ten players from one team (Jersey Hitmen) and eight from another (Junior Bruins)? That’s basically half of the total rosters coming from two teams. Of course, this may just be indicative of the overall talent imbalance that the league is experiencing right now (and probably the reason why both of those teams are spearheading the fledgling USPHL).
